Raw meats do not last long in the refrigerator. Meats that are not going to be eaten in a few days should be frozen and not stored in the refrigerator.Place raw meats in freezer bags or paper or an airtight container. Then freeze them for up to 2 years.

A 4lb. duck can be thawed in 2 ways.

1st. Water

But duck in a watertight bag, and submerge in cold water. Change water every 30 min. It will take about 2-3 hours.

2nd. Refrigerator

It will take about 1-2 days, sometime longer. Parts only a day. After the duck has thawed, it can stay in fridge an additional 2 days. If you decide not to use, you can refreeze it.

You can thaw a duck in the microwave, but the results are not as good as the more natural ways.

The best way to safely thaw ground beef is in the refrigerator. Keeping meat cold while it is defrosting is essential to prevent growth of bacteria. Cook or refreeze it within 1 or 2 days.

Yes. As per U. S. Dept. of Agriculture, "Meat and poultry defrosted in the refrigerator may be refrozen before or after cooking. If thawed by other methods, cook before refreezing."
