There isn't a way to get into the trunk from the back seats. The latches for the back seats are in the trunk.

Just pull and the seat will push down. that is true, to have the pass thru feature for large items, but to remove the seats in the cobalt in the back if you lift up the seat fronts of the back seat there are clips you push in on and the seat bottom will lift up and off, the seat backs have a bracket that you need to manoever the pins thru to release it., hope this is more of a help than how to lay the seats down!!
