Yes you can upgrade the HDD on a PS3. Not sure whether 360HDD is available in standard notebook size, but 320 HDD is and I some larger more expensive sizes are said to be available.

If you want to get your's fixed you can return it to PlayStation and they will fix or replace it for about half the cost of a new PS3. Purchase the new PS3 320 GB Model + the Move Bundle for USA $400 or the new PS3 160 GB Model for USA $299.99 from most online or retail stores. Some store will offer a trade in for your old PS3, but may be little more than you would save on taxes from Amazon.com who will also take trade ins.
The hard disc drive of a PS3 is designed to be replaced with a standard laptop harddrive. see related link. You can not just remove the harddrive and must replace and reload the information for the PS3 to still work
i would think so, but if you try it might mess up your ps3 so just buy a 160gb or try to replace it PS3 have no problem having a new larger harddrive and accept the standard notebook size. The PlayStation Network support center has downloads available to reload the operating programming for the PS3 model those harddrive you are replacing. see related link.
Nothing if you can not find someone who wants it for parts. It also can be sent back to Sony who will likely replace it with a refurbished PS3 slim model instead of repairing
