Can you use a 150 watt bulb in a 250 watt bulb fixture?

Yes, the rating of the fixture is the maximum size bulb that the fixture should take. The fixture is rated to dissipate a certain amount of heat that is generated by a bulb. By putting in a bigger bulb and thereby generating more heat than the fixture was designed for, could destroy the fixture. Some fires have been known to start this way.

Can a 250 watt heat bulb go into any lamp?

no the fixture has to be rated for the size and type of the bulb. most fixtures are not rated for 250W

Can a 400 watt high pressure sodium bulb be used in a 400 watt metal halide ballast?

I actually have a 400w hps ballast and I can also use my 400w metal halide bulb in it with no problem. So what your saying is they do, but they dont? the answer is, they dont. You can get universal bulbs hps to plug into a mh ballast they have a miniturized igniter inside the bulb. As I understand it, a 400W metal halide bulb can be used with a 400W hps ballast, but not the converse. A MH bulb has the igniter in the bulb, and the HPS has it in the ballast--which pretty much goes along with your comment above. Apparently the double presence of the igniter in the HPS setup is OK.you can run metal halide in same wattage's but not hps in metal halide systems.you can run such as (same wattage's)250 watt metal halide-400 watt halide ect in hps systems but not hps bulbs in halide systems. they make conversion bulbs to run halide in hps as well and vice versa.

Can you use a 250 watt bulb with a 15 amp switch?

A 15 amp switch can safely handle up to 1400 resistive watts.

Can i replace a 250-watt halogen bulb with a 3000-watt halogen bulb?

No. Only replace lamps in a fixture that the manufacturer of the fixture recommends. By installing larger than recommended lamps this could create a fire due to the increase of heat generated by the over size lamp.

Can you use a 400W high pressure sodium bulb in a metal halide ballast?

No, the ballast has to be matched to the lamp. 250 watt ballast, 250 watt lamp. Also be sure to match the lamp type to the proper ballast even though the wattage is the same. HPS ballast to HPS lamp, Metal halide ballast to metal halide lamp and mercury vapour lamp to mercury vapour ballast.

How do you connect 250 watt bulb into a ballast?

If the 250 watt bulb is a HID or similar type the ballast comes complete with the fixture. The bulb socket is also part of the fixture and comes pre-wired to the socket. To connect the bulb to the fixture all that has to be done is just screw it into the fixture's socket.

Do you have to use a ballasts for a 250 watt metal halide?

Yes, the ballast is an intricate part of the fixture that the lamp screws into regardless of what size wattage the lamp is.

How many lumens are in a 300 watt incandescent light bulb?

The actual amount of light (lumens) given off by a bulb depends on the how the bulb was made and with what materials. It depends on the filament material, its length and thickness, and the type of gas in the bulb. As a rule, longer lasting bulbs of the same wattage will generally be less bright than others and brighter bulbs of the same wattage will not last as long as other bulbs.Sample lumen outputs:Sylvania 250 Watt Indoor Soft White 3-Way Bulb can emit 3940 lumens at its highest setting.Philips 250 Watt 120 to 130V PAR38 Krypton Flood Bulb emits 3100 lumens

4 250 mh bulbs 1 1000 watt mh ballast how to wire?

I would wire them together in a parellel circut. all the lights together, white to white black to black then put your ballast to em. it works like that with my 400 watt mh/hps ballast and 2 250 watt hps bulbs. run 2 hps bulbs with 2 mh bulbs if you can, you get better results.

How much energy does a 250watt bulb use per hour How much energy does the average light bulb use per hour?

There are many factors that go into calculating the energy usage of a light bulb. The wattage printed on the lamp is only the energy use of the lamp when it is new. Depending on the kind of lamp he energy required to run it will increase as it ages. For example a Metal Halide lamp can use up to 50% more power in the last 20% of its life.Another factor is the ballast that may be required to run the lamp. Each ballast has a "ballast factor" which can increase or reduce the overall energy usage of the lamp. Many ballasts have a factor as high as 1.2 which would increase the energy consumption of the lamp to 300 watts.AnswerThe question is asking about energy, not power as per the previous answer. To find the energy consumed by a lamp, or any device come to that, multiply its power rating by the time for which it is used. So a 250-W lamp will use 250 W.h (watt hours) of energy in one hour, 500 W.h in two hours, and so on. Energy is more-commonly expressed in kilowatt hours, for the purpose of billing however, where 250 W.h corresponds to 0.25 kW.h, etcAnswer: In an hour it uses 250 watt-hours. The average bulb probably uses 20-60 watt-hours each hour.

Can a 400 watt metal halide bulb replace a 250 watt bulb using the same fixture?

Sure. You can also set fire to the pants you're wearing at the time while you're at it. They're about equally good ideas.A lamp that's rated for 60 watts has been determined to be safe when used with a bulb of that wattage. Higher wattage bulbs, especially halogen bulbs, are likely quite a bit hotter than the lamp was designed to withstand ... and that's ignoring the fact that the wiring was designed for currents appropriate for a 60-watt load, and quadrupling that is going to overload them and may even cause them to short out and/or catch fire.Because I'm not absolutely certain that anyone who would think this could possibly work out okay will pick up on the subtle nuances here ...Do not ever use a bulb of a wattage higher than the fixture is rated for.
