if you listen to a song you like A LOT then that can distract you from pain and fatigueof running long distances, and therefore being a good thing.

Try changing it to, "Joel enjoyed listening to early music, but none of his friends like it."
Yes it can. In a way. The music is so loud it blasts in your brain and your brain tells you to keep up with the music so it makes you run faster.
It keeps a tempo and you unknowingly follow it, for novice runners, I recommend a little hip-hop, but not dubstep or anything like that until you are experienced and can keep that kind of pace.
Well running at that age may not be fun but it's healthy maybe try jogging while listening to music try drinking a lot of Gatorade if it's a race it could be pretty fun

Hiding and then run when the teachers are not listening
Seek friends family to find good music to be supportive and motivating while you run. Many bands and songs offer songs and sounds that are energetic, upbeat and motivating. There are plenty to choose from.
40's MusicBig Band music: Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and The Andrews Sisters. lots of styles. most people were listening to Jazz, Big band, folk, swing, classical, blues and rock and roll became popular in the late 40's
If you're thinking of running as in jogging for fitness, no. Sometimes it can inspire you to run distances, but only if you have a good reason, like being somewhere on time. If you try to just run, chances are your lungs will hurt more than normal, and you'll feel really tired, sit down, and wish you had food. And when I say hurt, I don't mean badly, you'll get over it once you stop breathing heavily. Maybe, if you really want to, you could run to a convenience store while listening to music. You'll feel like a champ once you get there, but don't forget your wallet. ;]
Listening to music while you work out is a great way to stay motivated and help distract you from physical fatigue. Lots of Mp3 device have attachments you can purchase that hook onto your shorts or wrist/arms to make it easy to listen and run. Make sure you have a good set of headphones and select songs from your computer that you find motivating and fun!
