The iPad apps need to be created specifically for the iPad, it will not run standard software, and as yet there is not a version of Open Office available for the iPad. NOTE: it will open something made with Microsoft's Office (thus also an Open Office document) using Pages,KeyNote,Numbers which are part of the iWork suite.(I suppose that iWork is not included,you'll have to buy it).
