Yes you can see other computers in a wireless network, each device has it's own unique MAC-address which describes to the computer what type of device is connected to the network. Using the 'Network' feature on the computer gives the person a graphical view of who is connected to the Network, this can be done by going to: Start, 'Network'.
The PlayStation 3 does not use the wireless N and uses the less expensive wireless g so most people buy the wireless N which is better than what is needed for the PS3. I purchased one for $80 on sale at best buy and then later saw a much better one for less. After all why not have better in case you get a laptop or other WiFi device
I'm not exactly sure. In Target, last time I saw, it was $30.

It was the end of 1965, and Robert Taylor, a Defense Advanced Research Planning Agency (DARPA) shot caller was frustrated. He was a computer user who had first hand experience with the frustration of linking multiple computers (and who clearly saw the problems), and he tagged Larry G. Roberts over at MIT's Lincoln Laboratory to come over to Defense. It was Roberts who created the first functioning long-distance computer networks in 1965. He also designed the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET), the seed from which the modern Internet grew, in 1966. It was ARPANET that was the first computer network.
So check it out. I have an old 1998 ThinkPad laptop. Had this same problem. Running windows 2k. HEY!! That old arsh laptop has an infra-red wireless communication device in it. Dude it conflicts with the cricket wireless deal. So i -disabled- the infrared card. And it worked. BAM. i also i also named the local area network connection "Cricket Broadband" i saw that on youtube. You may have to do that along with disabling the infrared. I did that only before the infrared and it didnt fix it..... Anyway i found this out because the driver said "conflicts with infrared device".. Had to dig deep to find it. Good luck all!! -johnny san Diego
