Yes- with a couple of qualifiers- first, MOST .22 LR semi auto firearms will not cycle (feed semiautomatically) with .22 Shorts. Some bolt and lever guns are not happy with the shorter rounds feeding from a box magazine- these will need to be fed one at a time. Second, prolonged firing of shorts in a LR chamber can build up a ring of carbon right at the mouth of the .22 Short case, which may make switching back to LR difficult. Solution is to clean the firearm, paying attention to the chamber of the gun.
