You can, but manufacturers typically recommend that you do not. Shooting lead pellets will be less damaging and would require alot of shooting to cause any serious damage. Shooting steel or tungsten, however, will cause significant damage in a short amount of time.

A smooth barrel will handle pellets, buckshot, sabotted slugs or standard slugs. A rifled barrel should be used for sabots and slugs only.

Will crosman 1008 shoot 177cal pellets?

It is designed to shoot .177 Caliber pellets, not BB's. It has a rifled barrel, BB's will ruin the barrel if they are forced to shoot through it.

Can you shoot a smooth bore slug through a rifled barrel?

Shooting rifled slugs is the ONLY way to shoot thru a smoothbore for deer. If you shoot sabot slugs thru a smoothbore, it will not spin and therefore not be accurate. For accuracy, the slug must spin out of the barrel. Either shoot a rifled slug thru a smooth barrel, or shoot a saboted slug thru a rifled barrel.

Can bbs be used in a pellet rifle?

Pellets are actually a little larger. if it worked, would have no velocity. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BB's are .175 caliber, Pellets are ,177 Caliber. BB's are hard and do not deform where as Pellets are made of soft material. BB guns have a smooth bore barrel. It's just a tube. Pellet rifles use a rifled bore barrel. They have grooves in the barrel that the pellet catches as it travels down the barrel. This spinning makes the pellet spin as it leaves the muzzle and this spinning causes it to fly straighter than a round BB. Forcing a BB to fire through a pellet rifled barrel damages the rifling as the hard BB travels down the barrel. Never use a BB in a pellet gun or rifle. Now there are rifles that are designed to shoot both BB's and pellets. These rifles have smooth bore barrels and are not as accurate as pellet rifles that have rifled barrels. I only know if one pellet gun that is designed to shoot BB's in a rifled barrel, and that is a GAMO P-23. This pistol shoots both BB's and pellets BUT the BB's must be GAMO brand BB's designed for the P-23. These BB's are soft and conform to the rifling as they are shot. They do not damage the rifling.

Can a gamo whisperer shoot bb's?

If you do you will destroy a perfectly good rifle. The Whisper is designed to shoot Pellets not BB's. It has a rifled barrel (Grooves in the barrel to catch and spin the pellet) this makes them fly straighter. Pellets are a soft material. BB are a hard material. Forcing them through a rifles barrel will destroy the rifling. This is why BB rifles have smooth bore barrels. If you have started to shoot BB then you have already started to destroy the accuracy of the rifle and dropped it's value. So don't do it.

Can you shoot pellets thought a rifle barrel gun?
