It is designed to shoot .177 Caliber pellets, not BB's. It has a rifled barrel, BB's will ruin the barrel if they are forced to shoot through it.

If you do you will destroy a perfectly good rifle. The Whisper is designed to shoot Pellets not BB's. It has a rifled barrel (Grooves in the barrel to catch and spin the pellet) this makes them fly straighter. Pellets are a soft material. BB are a hard material. Forcing them through a rifles barrel will destroy the rifling. This is why BB rifles have smooth bore barrels. If you have started to shoot BB then you have already started to destroy the accuracy of the rifle and dropped it's value. So don't do it.

Some models shoot BB and pellets. However if it is not designed to shoot BB's then forcing the gun to do so will damage the rifling in the barrel. BB's are solid and do not deform in the barrel when shot. Pellets flair our when shot through the barrel and the skirt of the pellet uses the rifling to make it spin as it leaves the barrel. BB's wear away this rifling and ruin the accuracy of the rifle. Never shoot BB's in a gun that is not designed for it.
Will using a different brand pellet in your air rifle ruin it?
No. Pellet rifles are designed to shoot all brands of pellets. But remember pellets, unlike BBs come in different sizes. So if your rifle shoots .177 pellets, only shoot .177 size pellets not .22 size or any other size. Never shoot BB's in a pellet rifle unless it is designed to shoot pellets and BB. It will say in the instructions if it can shoot both. Also remember that pellets also come in different weights. Light pellets will fly faster but are not as accurate as heavier pellets that fly slower but straighter and have more knock down punch.

This is a very fine rifle. To force it to shoot BB will only damage the barrel and would reduce the accuracy and value of the rifle. BB's are meant to be shot out of a smooth bore barrel. The 1760 SE has a rifled bore barrel. When a pellet is loaded into the rifle the soft skirt of the pellet conformed to the groves in the barrel. This action causes the pellet to spin as it travels down the barrel and fly very straight as it spins through the air. BB do no conform to the groves in the barrel so when a BB travels down the barrel under air pressure it tears and ruins the groves in the barrel damaging it beyond repair forever. Never shoot BB's in a pellet gun designed to shoot pellets only.

If it is truly a rifle (spiral lines on the inside of the barrel) then no. BB guns are smoothbore. The hard steel BB will usually stick in the rifled barrel, where a soft lead pellet will squeeze into the rifling. There are very few guns made to shoot both BBs and pellets- but they are marked that way.
