Can you store information in an e-book reader?

Generally, no. Most eReaders, such as the Amazon Kindle or Barnes & Noble Nook, are used primarily for books, thus they only have the capacity for such. Buying more high-end eReaders, like the iPad or the Kindle Fire, could open more possibilities. The iPad is much more than an eReader; it's more like a computer, thus the iPad has the capability to store information on it such as documents, pictures, contacts, etc. The Kindle Fire is the newest generation in the Amazon Kindle family. It is often compared to the iPad because of its highlighted functions, however it does not have as many capabilities as the iPad. The Kindle Fire may be able to store information, but it does not have the processing power like the iPad, so it is bound to become sluggish as more information is stored, much quicker than the iPad.

So, if you're looking to store plenty of information and still keep full functionality, and you have about $500 to spare, the iPad would be your best bet.

If you're on a tighter budget, want something that can store some information, but may be a little sluggish, go with the Kindle Fire.

In today's eReader/tablet market, since it is still in its infant stage, the afore mentioned devices would be your best choices, but if your information is just as easily stored on a computer or on paper, but you still want an eReader, the Amazon Kindle or the Barnes & Noble Nook both get very good ratings.
