It would not be suggested. You definitely do not want to swim while wearing a pad. If you are not comfortable with tampons yet, start out with the junior kind (A brand like OB or something) and start out with the "lights". But your period certainly does not have to stop you from swimming at all! Just try using a tampon. If you have never used one before, you might ask an older sister or a friend that may know more about using them. If you don't have anyone to talk to just keep trying. Each box of tampons comes with instructions on how to use them. It may take you a couple of tampons to get it right as far as comfort, but they don't hurt at all.
You can swim during menstruation if you use any of the following:
Menstrual cups are the best option for swimming as they're internal like tampons but safe so no risks of vaginal infections or TSS - this means that unlike tampons cups can be worn with light flow or even before your period if you think it may be due, you can also wear for up to 12 hours so no need to get out of the water every few hours to change. Menstrual cups have nothing showing externally, don't absorb water, don't increase cramps, and don't leak like tampons can.

If you're swimming in a private pool or somewhere like a natural water source you may be okay swimming without any internal menstrual products - you will still bleed but the blood is diluted in the water, depending on the situation you may be comfortable with that.
Not in a public pool please
You cannot do this, it would be embarrassing for you, so wear a tampon, or stay out of the pool.
I hope you are not wearing a tampon when not on a period. This is unhealthy and if you are just starting your period you should not be using a tampon until you are older. The tampon box gives written as well as a diagram of how to put in a tampon. Follow the directions and read the warnings. This is very important.
ecs
probably but why should you be using it since you wont have a period any way.
If you remove a tampon and it has brown spots then it is likely old blood, normal when your period is light as it takes time for the blood to leave your body and it goes brown. If your period is light then you should not be using tampons at all, only use tampons with full flow. If the tampon has brown spots before insertion then throw it out and check other tampons before using them.
You could, but you'd get blood on your bathing suit and it's really not recommended. I suggest using a tampon.

Use a tampon or just skip. I do gymnastics and I find using a tampon works great. Just make sure to talk to an adult first. plus depending on the sport you can wear little spankies. Hope this helps
A woman shouldn't really go into the water when she has her period. That includes taking showers or baths. Wearing pads in the water would never work anyhow as the pad would be dripping wet. And a woman should seriously consider things before beginning to use tampons. Here's why: Once you use a tampon, you'll never be able to get back that innocence you had before using a tampon. There is nothing more important than innocence. Please don't give up your innocence so easily by using a tampon.
