Cymbalta is an SNRI, meaning it increases both serotonin and norepinephrine, while lexapro is an SSRI, meaning it increases only serotonin. These drugs that inhibit the reuptake of neurotransmitters MUST BE SWITCHED GRADUALLY. If switching from cymbalta to lexapro, the physician should induce a "step-down" therapy on the cymbalta while inducing a "step-up" therapy on lexapro. This ensures a level amount of drug in the blood, and minimizes the chance of recurrence and adverse effects.
I tried going off cymbalta but the withdrawal symptoms were so horrible! I asked the doctor to put me on something else that would help, and she switched me to lexapro, which put an end to my withdrawal symptoms to cymbalta almost immediately. I am now trying to come off lexapro and it is significantly easier.
If cymbalta is not working for you your docotor may sugest a different drug. The switch is usual after several days to about 2 weeks to "clean" your ststem of the old drug.
I have taken wellbutrin & cymbalta (at different times in life) Remember to stay hydrated & always read the drug label.
ill let you kno my doctor just took me off of 60mg of Prozac to 60mg of cybalta.....
call your doc. tell her what you did. she'll probably want you to restart taking them as directed again and if you really want to come off of them then do it the way you know you should - with a good wean under your prescribing clinicians care.
No, they are similar enough. You should have no trouble taking zoloft your last day and starting lexapro the next. Side effects you can look for would be nausea, headache, and upset stomach. You might also have a little trouble sleeping for the first few days as your body adjusts to the switch.
no!
How do you wean off tylenol3 with taking 2 at every bedtime
Cut the pill in half to reduce your dose and slowly start taking it less.
Your doctor should help wean you off of it, if your doing it alone, you can probably start by lowering your daily dosage by cutting the pills in half for a month or 2, but it might be better and safer to have your doctor wean you off.
I wouldn't do that if I were you. You need to wean yourself off of Lexapro slowly and even then you are going to get some withdrawl symptoms, including dizziness and nausea. That's what happened to me when I went off Lexapro over a two week period. From what I understand the withdrawl can sometimes be worse than what I had. I would consult with your doctor and come up with a plan for you to get off. If you need to go back on something I would stay away from Lexapro - I have been on several antidepressants and that was the worse one to stop!
YOU SHOULD WAIT AT LEAST 3 MONTHS IF POSSIBLE 6 ONLY SO THE DRUG IS COMPLETELY OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM& SO YOUR BODYS NATURAL CHEMICAL BALANCE IS RESTORED.
At the start
If I were you I wouldn't take st john wort. I've heard that it can make ptsd worse in some cases. I would try wellbutrin or budiproprion (Spelling) instead. Slowly wean from cymbalta. It can make you severely depressed and or manic even if you have never been. Also wellbutrin and the budi meds are the most natural meds they make for ptsd, depression, etc. if that's what your worried about. Good luck! :)
he is most definitly into you...and he wants u
If you are wanting to wean off, then you start reducing your dose by half a pill less, each week, until you are completely off of them.
