Methadone is a similar opiate derivative like Oxy, but not as strong (at least from my viewpoint).
Neither drug is a Chronic Pain drug - both Oxycodone and Methadone are Acute Pain meds, and only last 6 hours. Chronic pain meds are OxyContin and Duragesic. OxyContin lasts 12 hours, Duragesic up to 72 hours. Those are used for primary, and the other 2 for breakthrough pain.
For example, I use 1 100mcg Duragesic patch every 48 hours, and use Percocet 10/325's for breakthrough (about 150/120 per month).
If you're only using acute meds and have chronic pain, then you need to start using a Pain Diary to track your pain so you can show your doctor that you need a chronic med. If your doctor isn't listening, time to find another one.

I would talk to my doctor and let him no that you are having break through pain. Most pain clinic is prescribe another pain medication with methadone for break through pain. I would not stop taking methadone with out first talking to my doctor.
It has been prescribed for me just for that purpose. However, I do caution from my own experience that because I was taking both, my system stored up some of both and then later released all at once into my system resulting in a massive over dose that could have been lethal. My Dr took me off the methadone and replaced it with MS Contin. This combination has yet to cause any problems.
i take 10 mg methodone tablets for pain an my doctor just prescribed me 2mg oxycodone for breakthrough pain, so I'm assuming its ok.
Absolutely - Hydrocodone and Oxycodone are typically prescribed along with Duragesic as breakthrough pain meds.
can you test postive for methadone while taking methocarbamol
You can take basically any of the popular over the counter medicines you want for a headache while taking methadone. Tylenol, Advil, Aspirin they are all safe to take while taking methadone. I made sure by contacting several pharmacist and asking. They all confirmed the safety of taking them together.
yes
Taking less methadone would help. Talk to the doctor who prescribed you the methadone. He/she will be able to prescribe an anti-emetic such as Phenergan or change the methadone to another medication (if you are using it for pain).
Yes, as long as methadone is taken as prescribed, you can maintain employment.
Yes, you can. If you do get pregnant while on methadone, do , PLEASE , PLEASE , not detox. At best it will be a shaky experience for you. At worst, you can end up having a miscarriage.
No. A clinic will truy and tell u that the methadone will block the effecfs, but this is also not true.
Yes, but make sure it is prescribed properly by a physician that knows you are taking either drug.
It all depends. Everyone is different. I have heard people that have had success with both medications for pain. It is all up to the individual and their own preference. Methadone and Oxycodone are different types of opiate drugs. Methadone is a very long lasting opiate but will not have as intense of a euphoric effect, which helps many people who need to function while on a pain-killer. Oxycodone is a much shorter acting and intense opiate. You will feel a much more euphoric effect and "high" than from methadone, but you will need more of the medication (multiple doses in a day).
No, it shows up as morphine, which what an opiate screen looks for, along with codeine, and both of their metabolites. Oxycodone does not show up in a standard opiate screen, but with its recent notoriety, is sometimes also tested for.
yes, but methadone fills the neural receptors for opiates in the brain mush stronger than smack. If you are on 20mgs. or more of methadone, you are wasteing your time.
