Taking Xanax and Ativan together is absolutely UNSAFE. They are both in a class of drugs called Benzodiazepines. The main difference in the two is that Ativan is longer lasting than Xanax. I am no Doctor, but I would advise strongly against taking these two drugs together.
No, both are POTENT Benzodiazepine drugs with much the same effects both beneficial and adverse. Taking both at once would lead to marked sedation, possibility for overdose increases greatly, especially when combined with other depressant such as alcohol or opiod painkillers (e.g. Vicodin, Percocet, Darvocet, Codeine, Dilaudid, etc...)
USE OF BOTH BENZODIAZEPINES MAY ALSO MARKEDLY INCREASE THE POSSIBILITY OF OVERDOSE, ADDICTION and POSSIBLY DEATH.
-----COMBINING BOTH IS HIGHLY DANGEROUS AND ILL ADVISED--
----CONSULT A PHYSICIAN BEFORE STARTING OR STOPPING ANY MEDICATIONS----
More Information:
Taking Clonazepam in lower doses can prevent panic attacks. If someone has a breakthrough panic attack doctors may prescribe Alprazolam until it passes. It does increase overdose risk, but if a competent physician/psychiatrist is managing the dose that is unlikely.
I don't see how any doctor could justify prescribing both ativan and xanax. Both of these are benzodiazepines and will have very similar effects. It would be safe taking these together, but you need to monitor how much you take.
Ask your Doctor, Answers is not a a reliable answer base for drug info.
Yes and no, depending on the person. I can take 1mg Ativan and 1mg Xanax just fine, but if you are an idiot who just takes a bunch of each youre probably gonna fall asleep and never wake up.
I not think so
Ativan, Xanax, Klonopin ~ all the benzos. I take 60 XR Adderall per day and about 3 Ativan 2 mg.
Ativan can be stronger than Xanax. However, it depends on the milligram dosage. Both Ativan and Xanax are anti-anxiety prescription medications.
can zolof and xanax taken at the same time
Alcohol intensifies the effect of benzodiazepines (such as Ativan, Xanax & Klonopin). This can lead to oversedation, incoordination, slurring of speech, and increased risk of falls and accidents.
Methocarbamol + Xanax = increased sedative effect
Sudafed and Xanax safe together
yes
Ativan or Librium. Avoid Xanax.
yes
No, It is a SSRI. Benzo's are xanax and ativan.
I would consider the Xanax much stronger.
A person should not mix Ativan and Xanax. This is because the two drugs work with the body in the same way and could cause an overdose.
