  • Yes you can take these 2 but limit your dosage. I take 10mg vicdins 4 xs a day as prescribed and also a 10mg ambien at night for sleeping and have never had a problem. I am prescribed both by my DR. so it limited doses under doctors supervision u can.

  • VICODIN IS A NARCOTIC PAIN reliever, not one of the strongest, but it is a CNS (central nervous system) depressant. As far as the sleeping pill- it makes a difference if it is a barbiturate (Halcion, Chloral hydrate, which are also CNS depressants) OR a hypnotic (Ambien, Rozeram) which are not CNS depressants. You need to be VERY careful if you combine two drugs that are both CNS depressants. You should ask your doctor OR call ANY pharmacy and ask to speak to a pharmacist. Give them the names of the medications and dosages, and they will tell you if there is a problem, (called a DRUG/DRUG INTERACTION). Many times pharmacists have more up to date, accurate information about drugs that CAN be taken together V.S. drugs that can NOT be taken together
  • Ambien is NOT a CNS depressant opiates like vicodin have been know to actually keep people awake.
  • These drugs can be combined under a doctors supervision.

Yes. VERY DANGEROUS COMBINATION! I say yes very hesitantly because this is a life threatening combo that would make you highly sedated (blackout) if you were lucky enough not to overdose. So can you? Yes, but why risk it? The ambien alone should be enough to knock you out. If you are suicidal talk to someone. If you must try it keep the opiate dose (hydrocodone) very low at 5-10 mg. This is the where the most risk is.

Your question can't be categorically answered. If the Vicodin is necessary for pain, you need to consult your physician, or a pharmacist, or both about what options are available to you. Even a non-prescription herbal sleeping aid might react with the Vicodin, and if you are taking high doses of either, it could certainly be dangerous. Your best option may be a non-pharmaceutical sleeping aid like a glass of warm milk and a white noise generator. There are even white noise generator programs available for Windows and Mac PCs you might try.

Only if your doctor says so. Depending on your opiate/zolpidem tolerance/naiveté, weight and stomach contents, these two drugs can cause nausea and vomiting and/or excessive sedation when combined.

If you're asking about hydrocodone (opiod pain medication) and Ambien, they can be combined. I take 40mg hydrocodone per day, and 10 mg Ambien every night, and all 3 of my doctors know I'm doing it.

It is possible to take them but very dangerous. Opiates, benzos and sedatives are all depressants and may suppress your breathing so much that you die.
