I would call them and check ahead of time. It probably depends on the size of the needles, and how sharp they are. I would guess probably not, but I would check

Does Delta allow wooden knitting needles?

Hi There! I have brought my knitting on a plane from Oregon to California and back. Both times I was not stopped. I had aluminum circular knitting needles. As of now, the TSA website states you can bring knitting and crochet needles and scissors under.... 3" I think. You can't bring the circular thread cutters. They should not take them from you, but it all depends on the agent you get. If he's in a sour mood, he might deem you dangerous to society and take them. Its always a risk even though they are technically allowed. That's why I don't take needles longer than 10". I try to bring plastic or wooden if possible, and I take plastic darning needles rather than metal. Most airlines should allow them, at least American airlines should. Check if you are flying with a foreign airline on their website. Hope that helps!

Can you take a knitting needle on an airplane?

Many airlines allow wood needles especially circular needles as they will not impose on other passengers and being so short and wood are hardly a threat but you still need to call your specific airline.

Are you allowed to take knitting needles in your hand luggage?

I have always been able to get through with knitting needles and crochet hooks, even the one time I had to be pat down and have all my stuff bomb swiped. (that was an interesting trip) but they didn't say anything about them. And if you take scissors they cant be longer than four inches in length. http://knitting.about.com/od/knittingsafety/f/knitting_plane.htm
