Yes.
According to the TSA, you can bring any kind of knitting needle on board, but they recommend bamboo or plastic (rather than metal) and circular needles with a length of less than 31".
Yes you can. Simply make sure they are well secured in your carry on bag so they don't potentially cause harm to the other travelers.
are knitting needles allowed
Any store should have knitting needles.
knitting needles
20mm knitting needles are needles that are 20mm in diameter. They are also known as US size 35 needles.
Why?
Many airlines allow wood needles especially circular needles as they will not impose on other passengers and being so short and wood are hardly a threat but you still need to call your specific airline.

nooooooo!
Knitting needles.
no.
Hi There! I have brought my knitting on a plane from Oregon to California and back. Both times I was not stopped. I had aluminum circular knitting needles. As of now, the TSA website states you can bring knitting and crochet needles and scissors under.... 3" I think. You can't bring the circular thread cutters. They should not take them from you, but it all depends on the agent you get. If he's in a sour mood, he might deem you dangerous to society and take them. Its always a risk even though they are technically allowed. That's why I don't take needles longer than 10". I try to bring plastic or wooden if possible, and I take plastic darning needles rather than metal. Most airlines should allow them, at least American airlines should. Check if you are flying with a foreign airline on their website. Hope that helps!
Practically, a loom is used for weaving. Knitting is accomplished on a knitting machine or completed by hand using knitting needles.
