Do not do this. I went to a methadone clinic for three years and during that time that I was there we had three to five people die every month from this combination. I know how much methadone makes you crave xanax, and a ton of people mix these drugs everyday with no harmful effects. But I have known people to die just by taking 40mg of methadone and 2mg of xanax. The reason it is so dangerous is because xanax and methadone are CSN (central nervous system) depressants, so when abused it actually prevents your brain from telling your lungs to breathe at all, so you just die. I had a close friend die this way just last year. And lastly if you have an addictive personality, which if you are on methadone than you almost certainly do, than adding another additive drug will not make anything better or solve any of your problems. I can't tell you how many jobs I lost because of this dangerous combination. You reach a point where you can't tell how messed you are, and it can be impossible to control. I now take suboxone and nothing else. My anxiety is much less on suboxone. Although I still crave xanax, I know that once I start down that road its over for me, because of my additive nature. There are other things you can do for your anxiety. I exercise almost daily and it has helped more than anything else.

Yes, you can, but be careful if you have a long QT interval in your heart. If you don't know what that is, you probably don't have it.

Basically mixing these two drugs together can cause an irregular heartbeat which could lead to cardiac arrest. However, unless you have had prior heart problems, there is a very small risk. If you believe you do have a heart problem, steer clear of this combination as it could cause severe ventricular arrhythmias which will lead to instant death unless a defibrillator is close by.

There are also some additive effects of mixing the two together, as they are both CNS depressants. They will make each other slightly more potent (which is why a lot of people use this combo, to get high) and the possibility of minor and major side effects of each drug are raised.

I was prescribed Vicodin and Tizanidine for neck spasms recently, and the Physician said it'd be fine to use them together.
