There are no specific drug interactions between Vicodin (hydrocodone with acetaminophen) and Mucinex (guaifenesin). Drink plenty of water with the Mucinex and remember that the Vicodin can make you drowsy.

I take plain 5mg oxycodone tablets (along with naproxen, when needed) for rheumatoid arthritis pain, and am prescribed 180 tablets per month, or 6 per day.

Percocets are a mixture of either 5 or 7.5 mgs of oxycodone and acetaminophen, aka 'tylenol.'

I also have emphysema and take prescription mucinex as needed--600 mgs extended release tablets twice a day to help loosen phlegm.

(I take many other drugs as well, but you're only asking about percocet and mucinex, haha.)

My doctors and pharmacists check and double-check everything I take for possible adverse interactions, and I've never had a problem with taking them together. In fact, I do so several days a week, more often if I have a cold or am suffering from an R/A flareup.

In the future, know that you can call your local pharmacy to ask these sorts of questions, even if the drugs haven't been prescribed for you. You don't have to give your name, just ask to speak to a pharmacy technician and ask your question.

I've taken it several times before. The only reaction I have is it makes me very sleepy, but I feel well rested in the morning. I don't recommend taking them together while operating a vehicle or machinery. Otherwise doesn't give me any problems.
