Firstly, a few questions because to be safe you need to think about this abit more.

Why do you want to take the 2 together? Provigil (generic:Modafinil) can be anxiolytic, is this why you're taking it with an antidepressant? or is it for recreational purposes? (if you are I'd get something better)

Anyways, your answer.

Yes. They both work on Neurotransmitter (NT) systems, but since they work on different systems there's no reason why you can't take them together. Although, as a Pharmacologist, I dislike recommending cocktails. NT's are complex things, and there interactions aren't to be underestimated.

SSRI's take 2+ weeks to take effect (I assume you're taking them at the moment, and Provigil will be started soon) Provigil is a few days. So if you start feeling side effect or showing counter indications, stop taking the Provigil.

As with everything in pharmacology, doasage is the key. Be careful, act sensibly, and if you're in doubt go to a doctor.

Yes! However, paroxetine can cause either drowsiness or difficulty sleeping in patients. Some people experience more drowsiness, others become more alert. If you are the "drowsiness" person, you may find it best to take your paroxetine at bedtime so it is not working against the provigil. If you experience more "alertness" with paroxetine, you may find it too much to take it at the same time as your provigil.

If you experience either of these side effects with paroxetine, you may want to discuss changing the time you take it with your pharmacist or physician.
