I don't know about the 5mg dose of lexapro with 50 of tramadol, but I take 30mg lexapro and was given a prescription for 50-100mg of tramadol every 6 hours prn for acute tooth pain. My pharmacist adamantly refused to fill it due to severe risk of seizures; he said lexapro and tramadol were contraindicated. Hope this helps someone. I'm glad your phamacist refused to fill your rx. Mine did nothing, and I was completely unaware, evidently my doctor was as well, and I had to learn the hard way. Thank God I didnt have a seizure or anything major, but I would also take 50-100 mg for back pain, and you want to talk about a sleepless night. In and out of conciousness, sweats, and very vivid dreams when I would eventually fall asleep.

From my expirience yes but not in high doses(like over 100ml daily).It may cause serotonin effect.Also the best would be to skip lexapro that day if you not going to take tramadol on daily basis.

I am not a doctor but I had a seizure and it was told to me by an epileptic clinic at Vanderbilt and proven that there has been research done that this causes seizures. I never took Tramadol again and it has been 6 years and I never had another spell. In 2003, the research that had been done was fairly new. Please do not mix the two drugs and if you are taking Paxil, make sure that you always triple check with the doctors and pharmacists that what you are prescribed will not interfere with Paxil.
