bamboo and irises
Irises have either bulbs or rhizomes.
If enough dirt is kept around the roots of a plant, the roots do not have to work as hard to go through soil such as clay. It preserves the integrity of a plant until it has time to adjust to the transplanting.
Some irises are moved in spring and others in fall.
It's best to plant irises in the spring, but they can be transplanted in the fall. The rhizome (brown part with roots on it) should not be completely covered or the irises will not bloom. They like plenty of sunshine and shouldn't be in a place that doesn't drain well or the rhizomes will rot.
"Tease" or trim the roots.
Give it itme. A plant will put out roots after transplanting before it starts to put out top growth.
