My Clymer maintenance book said to use SAE10-W40 weight oil or a lighter viscosity oil (10W30) in cool climates and a heavier viscosity oil (20W50)in warm or hot climates.

Any motorcycle oil with the weight 20W50. I use Valvoline 4 stroke motorcycle oil 20W50 and it works fine!

You can, but I think 10w40 will be better.
We always use and recommend Kendall 20w50.
Always best to follow the manufacturer's recommendation. Check your owner's manual.
