A ballast is a ballast in most cases. So yes you should be fine.
Any HID head lamp bulb above 6000K are illegal.

Anne Frank.
He hid from the cops out there once before.
Ponyboy and Johnny hid in an old church, which soon was burned down and Johnny and Danny were badly injured. I think it was Danny with them, I forgot. But I hope this helps.

All high-intensity discharge (HID) bulbs, and all fluorescent bulbs, require a ballast, which is a device that limits current. It can raise the voltage and/or heat the bulb cathodes.
Yes.
yes is legal
For your question, i see the ignitor means the Electronic Ballast. If you want test HID lamp electronic ballast, you can reference Lisun WT2000-HID HID Ballast Tester, this instrument is main for test HID lamp electronic ballast,
I had to pull off the front bumper to replace the ballast and high and low beam bulbs. that's the only way that I know. I had to do this 2 times when the other bulb went out.If the bulb you replace does not work then it might be the ballast.
There are two ways to do this:Replace the entire light unit with a HID light unit compatible with the car, if one is available.Use an aftermarket HID conversion that fits standard bulb sockets, and adds HID bulbs and a ballast unit.HID bulbs require a ballast unit to generate the high voltages required, so are not a direct replacement. In most HID kits, the power can be taken from the existing lighting power supply, so the lights operate as normal.HID conversion kits are not road legal in some countries.
A HID ballast can be purchased from Amazon or eBay. The term 'ballast' is used to describe large inductors used to limit AC current for fluorescent lighting.
Yes, HID lights need a ballast.
There are several ways this can go. Technically HID's and any bulb that was not retrofitted to the vehicle by the factory is illegal because it is not DOT approved. However with out a HID conversion kit I run PIAA 7,000K bulbs in a 1995 Ford Windstar LX and have never had a problem in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio or Wisconsin.
The stock rating for OEM bulbs is 4300K or Kelvin. You can "upgrade" to more intense bulbs 6000K, 8000K, 10000K. But from my understanding they will not put out as much usable light. Stay around 5-6K. OEM replacements are 100 dollars each from oemacuraparts.com The OEMS are made by Osram. They are a D2R style or format.
Generally:Disconnect power supply to bulbPlug in HID Kit ballast unit to power supply to bulb. This may require drilling a hole in the rubber or plastic rear coverSecure Ballast unit to the vehicleRemove old bulbPlace HID bulb in holderConnecting output of ballast to HID bulbThis will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, and your HID kit should come with instructions.
