Negative, 308 is a 30 caliber bullet and 30 doesn't fit into 25.
any single or double action semi-automatic pistol listed as a 40 caliber pistol...............
Yes and no. Many .300 caliber cartridges use a bullet that is actually .308 inches in diameter- such as the 30-06. However, CARTRIDGES such as the .300 Winchester Magnum are a different size/shape than the .308 Winchester cartridge- they do not interchange.
Given the limited information in your question I can only give a general reply. The caliber is the diameter of the rifle groove to groove in thousands of inches. So the difference would be .450" - .308" which equals .142". There are a lot of specified rounds of ammunition that use .308 and .450 bullets. In general the larger caliber bullet would also be more powerful.
What is the use of grip safety on 45 caliber pistol?

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO THS!!!!!!!!!!!
Compared to the 223 Remington, the case volume of the 308 Winchester is increased by approximately 80%. The 308 Win now fires a larger bullet and maintains long-range speed, but at the expense of recoil.
Properly written as .30, it means that the gun fires a bullet 30/100ths of an inch in diameter. Please note there are MANY different cartridges that use .30 bullets- 30-06, .308, 7.62 x 39, .30 carbine, etc. The cartridges are all different shapes and sizes, but all use a .30 bullet.
A .44 caliber derringer.A small pistol called a Philadelphia Derringer.
I would personally consider .308 as the minimum for elk. Cartridges in the 30-06 power range and above would be suitable, if the shooter can place the shot in the right area.
Commonly called the 8mm Mauser, the bullet is actually 7.92mm, but that term is not in everyday use.
