If the coil looks the same you should be able to use it and only if the coil isn't mounted in the distributor.
Check out your control module under your distribtor cap.
Bad coil? Bad rotor? Bad distributor? Bad distributor Cap? Bad coil wire?
Clockwise. The 72 Chevy 350 engine did not come stock with a HEI unit. No matter, the rotor still spins clockwise.
If you are using the original points distributor, the gap would be .035".
some have coil spings some have leaf spring but will interchange
Looking at the distributor from the front, first post to the left of the points access window. Firing order from there would be clockwise, 1, 8, 4, 3, 6, 5, 7, 2.
It should be pointing to the #1 cylinder, That is the first spark plug on the driver's side up front.
yes you can
Yes No, the firing order is not different. no. the firing order is the same. go buy a book at your local parts shop, and it will show u a picture.
The original wire that goes to the + side of the coil will either be a steel wire or have a ballast resistor inline to cut the voltage to the points. You don't want that with an HEI. Either substitute a copper wire for the steel wire, or remove the ballast resistor and install the HEI.
