On Nov. 10th 2008, they added an update that disables rapid fire controllers on Cod5. It detects that your fire rate is too fast, and actually slows it down more than if you were just pulling the trigger normally. The first clip that you empty will be rapid fire, then after that, it won't work anymore. Some companies "claim" that they have new controllers out that will beat the update, but I have yet to try them out. I have a rapid fire controller that works great on Cod4 and other first-person shooters, but won't work on Cod5 since the Nov. 10th update. A lot of the videos on YouTube showing rapid fire controllers working on Cod5 were made during the beta and pre- 11/10/08. So to answer your question, unless you have one of the new rapid fire controllers (made after 11/10/08), rapid fire controllers will not work on Cod5.
****UPDATE****

Well first get some duck tape. second get a paper clip, third get any xbox 360 controller. load your game,(best use for, cod, halo's,ext.) find out at what point dose your bullet release an then after you have found it, take that paper clip and put it in the middle of a three inch piece of duck tape.put the tape down around the trigger right before it releases....Then when you are playing, you can press the button quick
