Yes, you can in fact use your straightener as a curling iron. Turn it on and take a single strand like you are going to straighten it, use it in a twisting motion from 6 inches from the roots to the tips. And it should be a tight curl.

I have wavy hair (more straight than wavy) and I always use the highest setting. Why? Because your curls last longer and it is less damaging to use the curling iron on hottest setting once than over and over again on low.
