All 493 Pokemon from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh are obtainable in HeartGold and SoulSilver. Vulpix, Ninetales, Meowth, Persian, Kabuto, Kabutops, Ledyba, Ledian, Delibird, Skarmory, Tediursa, Ursaring, Mawile, Gulpin, Swalot, Lileep, Cradily, and Groudon are only available in SoulSilver, and must be traded over to HG. Other Pokemon, like some legendaries such as, Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf, must be traded over from Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum.
