It will take from days to weeks to have that much algaecide displaced. You should not use the pool during that time. NEXT TIME READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE PRODUCTS THAT YOU USE BEFORE YOU USE IT. I would also watch out for any side effects from the copious amounts of algaecide used.

Its basically the same, you can shock the water if you wish However you do need to make sure that Algaecide you us is ok to use with your chlorinator as some of the copper based algaecides may void your warranty.

Apparently you are supposed to wait at least 2 hrs after the shock-it. I'm having to replace 1/2 my water with fresh, and am pumping just air into it. It's clearing a little, but this looks like it's going to take a few days. When I test it, my pH it perfect but I don't show any br or chlor, at all, after 2 bags of shock-it. Great start to a hot summer, huh? Shock-it has no chlorine. next time you shock your pool be sure to usechlorine chlorine tabs or granules to maintain the chlorine levels.
How do you control Algae in your salt water swimming pools?
The same as in any chlorine pool toss a bit of extra chlorine in for starters, if this does not help get some algaecide from your pool shop. Not be careful that you use the right kind of algaecide as metal based products don't necessarily agree with salt water chlorinators.
