Aftercare can be a confusing thing to follow, and some piercers don't quite explain it in enough detail or theopposite happens, there is so much detail you end up lost as to what to do next.
If in doubt keep your aftercare simple, mild non scented antibacterial liquid soap (Soft Soap brand is what I suggest) diluted and lathered, apply it to the piercing work the jewellery back and forth and rinse with plenty of running water till the soap is completely rinsed away. Don't put the soap directly on the piercing in gel form you need to dilute it with water and lather it up so it will work best before applying it to the piercing.
If that leaves you in a bit of a fog, just rinse the piercing under running water after a shower or bath before you get out to rinse soap, conditioner or any other cleansers out of the piercing, dry it with a clean tissue or towel and leave it alone till the next day.
Yeah there are lots of aftercare routines out there, use this, do that, mix this and do it 4 times a day. Bottom line if you bathe regularly and rinse the piercing out with running water it will heal just as well if not better than doing all the woo woo stuff. Just remember any time you shower or bath before you get out rinse your piercings.
Antibiotic creams and ointments should never be used on any piercing unless you have been directed to do so by your Doctor, your piercer is not your doctor and can not prescribe you any form of medicinal preparation for your piercing. We can only recommend what we know works for the vast majority of our clients.
