Try doing a wash cycle with NO CLOTHES and about a cup of bleach. When it's done, check to see if the smell is gone. If its not, try one more time with more bleach. If its still not gone you might have a mold problem somewhere where the water can't reach.

My guess is - water that is still sitting inside the inner parts starts to drain as the load is beign drained. Maybe run an empty cycle with bleach in it. Just a thought. There is a product called Smelly Washer that will take the smell out of your washing machine.
