The Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc, who manufacture Visine, warn . . . do NOT use Visine while wearing contact lenses; however, you may use Visine while your contact lenses are out. Wait at least 15 minutes before putting in contact lenses after using Visine.
Because if you use real water it will burn your eyes and contacts wont.

you need to make sure that you have the right solution for your lens type. Some lenses are Silicone Hydrogel lenses and they need a different solution than Rigid Gas Permeable lenses. I personally use optifree multipurpose solution for my Acuvue Oasys contacts. If you have any questions, my advice is to call your eye doctor - they should help you over the phone.

You should only use commercially prepared sterile saline solution with contacts. Anything else risks permanent damage to your eyes.
They can if when putting them in, you get lint on the contact lens. If you do get lint on them, just relax, take them out, put them back into the solution, and try again. After wearing them for a long time, your eyes can get dry and sore. But for me, my contacts don't cause me that much pain. It's different for everyone.

Yes, I use them all the time. They will provide some lubrication to the eye without harming them. They have to be "sterile" to begin with in order not to "dirty" the eye although solution and eye drops are meant to have completely different functions.
You can use plain water if you absolutely HAVE to. If you're really desperate to get it cleaned off you can also spit on it; although it seems pretty gross, your saliva is much the same as the liquid covering your eye.
