I have before; out of necessity. In my experience, heavier grains do not work as well... the bread did not rise wasn't nearly as fluffy compared to regular cooking oil (with white bread there was not a noticeable difference). Although, if you are making pizza dough or pretzels, I definitely prefer using olive oil.
