AS long as the impedance is a match you can use any speake with any amp. But if the power ratings are too mismatched don't expect it to sound that good. How do you install an amp into a 96 dodge neon?
You have to connect a power cable from the battery, and run it through the fire wall, to the amp. The most common places to put the amp, are under the front passenger seat, or mount it to the trunk side of the rear seat (so it can be accessed by pulling down the back seat. There is NO nead to connect the NEG side of the amp to the battery NEG post (infact that would be a BAD idea). Find a bolt near your placement of the amp, and run a thick cable from the amp NEG to this bolt. A good place under the seat is the bolts that mount the seats to the car, they are bolted to the frame and not the body so you will get a good ground. With the POS and NEG cables from the amp, its best to use thicker wires, because using speaker wire can cause the POS cable to over heat and catch fire. The third and final power wire to your amp is commonly called the REMOTE wire, and should be connected to the "remote antenna" wire that is in the wire harness on all newer after-market stereo decks. If you are connecting an amp to the STOCK stereo deck, than you will have to run a wire from the POS of the battery (or amp) and connect it to the REMOTE terminal. Make sure to put a switch on this wire, because the REMOTE terminal is the ON/OFF switch for the amp. The "remote antenna" will cause the amp to turn on/off with your stereo, and the switch will allow you to turn it on and off yourself. If you do connect a wire from the POS to the REMOTE terminals you will NEED the switch, because without one the amp will ALWAYS be on and will kill your battery in about an hour. Then you have to connect your audio in/out most newer amps use RCA cables for the input, and standard speaker wire for the output. If you use the stock stereo, you will have to adapt the speaker wires to RCA cables to use the amp. If you use an after market deck, there will be a spot to connect RCA cables to the back of the deck. Some have 2 (or more) places to connect RCA cables on the back of the new stereo deck. If you want to add bass to your car then you wanna connect to the "sub" outlet, and if you want to boost the full range (highs & lows) then connect to the "rear out" outlet. From here you are left with the speaker wires, which should be self explanitory, just POS amp to POS speaker, and NEG amp to NEG speaker. Connecting the speaker wires wrong (POS amp to NEG speaker) can cause the speaker to work harder than needed, and will ultimately cause the speaker to wear out sooner (also called "blowing" or "blown").

You are not guarenteed to get a great sound, but typically it is possible. A combo amp is just a cabinet and pre-amp/power-amp(head) in one box. If your combo has a line out that you can use to run speaker wire to the back of your speaker cabinet, then most likely it will work. The issue is, will your amp have enough juice to run the speaker cabinets with enough volume? For instance, my head is running 750w into a 4x12 at 4ohms. If were to run a 100w combo power-amp into the signal then I would likely have break up of signal and loss of sound clarity trying to get enough volume to be effective. If your combo has tons of extra juce, however, go for it!

Well, you do not necessarily have to bypass the amp. If you are using aftermarket speakers, you will have to bypass it, because the speaker will be receiving power from the head-unit AND the factory amp (speakers cannot have 2 power sources). This can be done with a bypass harness from www.crutchfield.com or you can just run your own speaker wires from your head-unit to your speakers. But, you will need aftermarket speakers, because the stock speakers are not designed to just be powered by your aftermarket head-unit, they're designed to be powered by the factory amp. However, if you are using the stock speakers, and just wish to use an aftermarket head-unit (what I did on my 06 liberty w/ "premium infinity sound"), all you have to do is power the factory amp (for each speaker). With a factory amp, your factory head unit sends power to the factory amp, when the car is turned on. Your aftermarket head-unit/harness, is not designed to power a factory amp. For this reason, your factory amp has no power, so you get no sound from your factory speakers. The Fix: Create a power source for your factory amp. People commonly use the "power antenna" wire (used to make an antenna go up/down when the car is started/stopped). This is simply a wire that has voltage when the car is on, and is dead when the car is off. The power antenna wire is located in the back of most aftermarket head-units. Just wire the power antenna wire (the one from the back of your aftermarket head-unit) to the factory amp power wire (this wire was originally attached to the back of the factory head-unit), and it should get power. You should now hear sound from your speakers. Each vehicle has different colored wires, so make sure you look at a 2002 Jeep Liberty wiring diagram for the color of your jeep's factory amp power wire. This can be found online.
