Kia has their own transmission fluid that is recommended for their cars. You can get transmission fluid for the Optima at any Kia dealer.

No, Kia power steering fluid is not exchangeable with its transmission fluid. These are two completely different fluids mean for completely different part of the car.
any fluid
kia service manual does not specify the capacity of power steering fluid. Just keep adding and then run , stop check power steering dip stick, Read if necessary.
The squealing could be that you need to add power steering fluid. Also you should check the belt that operates the power steering pump, if bad replace it. If the power steering pump is full and the belt is ok, then you may need to replace the power steering pump.
Mine was leaking too and the way I was told to find out is to pop the hood and have one person watching while another starts the car and then turn the steering wheel. If it is your pressure hose you will see fluid squirting out.
find another 2009 kia optima and park it in the same garage overnight.
For the 2.7 L V6 engine, if you suspect a power steering fluid leak after doing a visual inspection, check the fluid in your PS fluid reservoir which is on the passenger side near the front of the engine bay. If it is low, and you see fluid present, you may have a leak in your PS pump or one of the power steering hoses (high pressure hose leaks are common on high mileage Optimas). This link shows good photos concerning the issue.http://kiaoptimaservice.blogspot.com/search/label/power%20steering%20pump
