Note: It's spelled molding in US, moulding in UK.

You don't use glue to put up previous crown moulding.

You only use glue when placing new crown / the glue is used on the joining of the corners or for joining seams at center points or for your finish capped ends.

if you want to replace the hanging crown-- find where the stud is behind the drywall-- this is what you will use to anchor your crown moulding-- most of the time the nails or nail holes in the wall are the tel tale signs of where a stud will most likely be.

now drill a hole with a 3/32 drill bit and make sure you are lined up with a stud-- and make sure you are either slightly above or below the previous nail hole.

if you are lined up with a stud-- place a 2. 1/2 inch finishing nail in the hole you drilled and begin to hammer gently until you feel the nail enter the stud / and until the head of the nail is still at least 1/16 of an inch visible.

to finish-- use a hole punch to lower the nail head below the wood surface

and fill the nail hole with DAP window glazing and wait for the glazing to harden for a day before sanding the trim and painting.

I have some brief dental assistant experience. I don't want to delete the answer below, but please do not recommend anyone to superglue anything into or involving the month. A temporary crown needs to be re-cemented by your dental professional, or if that is not an option, temporary dental adhesives ARE available over the counter at most pharmacies.

Superglue is not something that should be used on any part of a living organism, the least of the worry being if you drip some accidentally on your tongue or elsewhere in your mouth. It is a VERY harsh chemical if applied to the wrong area. Cyanoacrylate can also cause an exothermic reaction with certain organic compounds, you wouldn't want that to happen in your mouth.

Bottom line: don't risk it, buy the proper glue or go to your dentist.

I've been asking the same question but did find this answer online a few minutes ago: Use an over-the-counter cement sold for this purpose, toothpaste, or an adhesive used to attach dentures. I've already tried the cement (2 different brands) which didn't work for me because it caused an uneven fit of my crown. I'm going to try the toothpaste next because I have some available.

My wife used it as a temporary fix, and it worked well. However, you really should have a dentist look at it for a more permanent fix.

A crown is essentially a fake tooth that is placed over a damaged tooth so that full use of the tooth is restored to the patient. If the crown falls off, it can be reattached.
