yes, they should be soaked over night
if these beans are canned, the soup would be to salty. if these beans are fresh just soaking in water and aren't drained nothing would really happen other than MAYBE little watery soup
If they have been in the fridge all this time and haven't started to ferment, they might be OK to cook - but the results could be mushy.
You can pre-soak beans for 8 hours or so, or overnight. Drain that water off before cooking; this will help remove gas-inducing elements. You can also drain off excess water after cooking beans (as opposed to using that liquid to make soup).
If these are dried beans I like to soak them from the night before, that seems to help. And that is also what I do when I make bean and ham soup.
fried egg/baked beans/cheese on toast? bacon..... soup x
just dont add beans
Not necessary with lentils; just rinse and drain them, then simmer them on low-medium heat for about 30-45 minutes or until soft. Make sure to add water or chicken broth as necessary so they don't dry out and burn. Dried beans, on the other hand, should be soaked overnight before cooking.
no. but they are very tasty in soup
Campbell soup company
Store dried soup beans in an airtight container in a cool, dry, and dark place where they will keep for up to 12 months. If you purchase soup beans at different times, store them separately; they may feature varying stages of dryness and therefore will require different cooking times. Cooked beans will keep fresh in a covered container in the refrigerator for about three days.
