by not starting do you mean not turng when starter engaged?obvious;y you have head gasket problems. if engine will not physically turn over like it is siezed. with bad head gaskets they have a tendency to leak coolant into one or more cylinders, when this happens it is called hydro lock, a engine cannot compress a liquid so the engine gets jammed by water in cylinder. if you want to save this engine replace what ever part gasket or head .hyro lock can bend connecting rods and crack pistons.thermo gasket i have heard of prolonging the expense of a real repair but thermo gasket cant be mixed with any type of coolant, only water so unless it is never cold where you live and you dont mind a gamble,if you like the car and the value is worth the repair fix it right. the car must be running for thermo gasket to work. they have a website for FAQ.

Will thermogasket repair a blown head gasket on a 1997 cadillac deville?

A thermostat gasket is a gasket for a thermostat, a head gasket is a head gasket. The top part of the engine needs to be disassembled to repair the head gasket. You can find information on your specific car in your local library. You may even be able to access this online if the library has the databases available.

Will a car start even if head gasket blown?

Yes, it will start. But know that every minute you run the engine you are doing damage.

Does thermostat gasket go under or on top of thermostat?

The answer is...it depends. A majority of cars have the gasket going on top of the thermostat. You will have to look for things like a cutout for the thermostat to fit in and such to really know or you might even have to pull out the repair manual.

How do you change the head gasket on a 1994 Honda Civic 16-valve VTEC?

Take it to a professional. Unless you are well qualified, you don't even want to attempt this on this engine. If you want to attempt this repair, then purchase a repair manual.

When replacing the water pump on a 1991 Buick Century with 3.3 Liter engine should the gasket that came with the new pump be used even though the repair manual doesn't list it as being required?

Absolutely. If you don't use the gasket, you are fastening metal to metal and it WILL leak.

How do you know for sure that the head gasket is blown on a 2003 grand am se?

a few different telltale signs actually. first, check to see if excessive moisture is coming from the tailpipe. also, check the oil. if it is dark and fine, or clear(which it should be if you have kept up on your oil changes) and still"oily" then its probably not the head gasket. if the gasket has blown the oil will start to take on a milky disposition. that is it will appear very light and whitish tan in color compared to the rest of the oil.if you determine that it is the head gasket, DON'T DRIVE IT AT ALL! DON'T EVEN START IT! every revolution of an engine that has a bad gasket only serves to more thoroughly destroy the internal components! either get a different car or get an estimate on repair( usually cheaper to get a new car!)

How much should you expect to pay a mechanic to repair a headgasket on a 1987 ford ranger 4 cylinder?

I'd guess a grand, maybe more. The gasket isn't pricey, but getting at it takes a few hours. So it'll mostly be labor you're paying for. It all depends on where you live and who you have to do the repair. Replacing a head gasket is a major repair, even though the gasket itself is relatively inexpensive. Replacing this will also require replacing other gaskets. Labor costs vary greatly from area to area. In my area of the country, using a good independent shop, this repair would run around $500. It would be much higher at a Ford dealership.

What if after the white smoke comes out the tailpipe an the car want start after what do that means?

It means you have a blown head gasket. Do not drive this vehicle even if it does start or you will destroy the engine if it is not already destroyed. Seek professional help.

How much to fix a leaking head gasket on a 1999 Ford Expedition?

About the only reason a head gasket leaks is because the engine overheated and warped the head.To properly repair the leaking head gasket you'll need to remove the intake and exhaust manifolds and anything else that's in the way, pull the head and have a machine shop "mill" the head to make it flat again. Depending on what needs to be removed to get to the head, the process could be anywhere from $500 to $1000, maybe even more. It certainly isn't a cheap repair.

Silicone sealer, or gasket maker, even if you have a cork gasket use sealer. I recommend Ultra Black or Ultra Blue. Priscilla =^.^=

Why doe my 1991 Chevy S10 water leaks in cab?

You'll need to figure out where the water is coming from...the gasket around the windshield can fail, if you have a sunroof I'd start there, maybe the side windows rubber gasket or even the gasket around the doors. It all begins with where does it come from. BTW: If its green and under the glove box, I'd check the heater core.
