Absolutely. I actually use vegetable oil instead of sunflower oil regularly. It makes the cake rise better and taste better too. Vegetable oil is a great substitute for many cooking oils. And canola oil works fairly well too for cakes and most baking. I dont hardly ever use Sunflower oil because it seems to leave behind a taste. And I don't really like it. But as I said, vegetable oil is a perfect substitute.

Most likely this will work, but it may depend on the recipe and it will change the flavor a little bit.
Yes. Sunflower oil is basically used for frying, but it is still a cooking oil and can be substituted.

Vegetable oil can be made out of several different plants, including soybean, peanuts, canola, and sunflower. So while all sunflower oil is vegetable oil, not all vegetable oil is sunflower oil.

Sunflower is one of the most important oil seed crop grown in temperate countries. In India it has gained popularity due to the national priority of vegetable oil production.Karnataka accounts for nearly half the area under sunflower in the country.Hope this helps!
You can use other types of oil (canola, sunflower, grapeseed, ect.).
I usually use sunflower oil, but any other plain tasting oil will work - canola, rapeseed, or any other vegetable oil.
presumably it refers to any oil used in cooking, eg sunflower oil, vegetable oil, olive oil etc... rather than unedible oils such as engine oil
