Baby shampoo would probably be safe to use on a cat, but other "adult" shampoos contain chemicals that may irritate the cat's skin. It would also be particularly irritating if it got in their eyes (animal shampoos are designed not to cause tears).

∙ 12y agoIt is recommended that you use Cat Shampoo instead of human shampoo when bathing your rabbits.
You can't give a bunny a bath with shampoo made for people because rabbits lick their fur, so they will consume the shampoo residue and be poisoned by it. It might also cause skin irritation. Only use shampoo made for cats, because cats lick their fur, too. Don't use dog shampoo, either, for the same reason you should not use people shampoo. Basically, only use cat shampoo or rabbits shampoo -- but even some cat shampoos are too harsh for a rabbit's sensitive skin. Look for a hypoallergenic, non-medicated shampoo with very few additives. Also, only bathe your rabbit if he is very dirty.
Healthy rabbits lick themselves clean: if your rabbit is dirty, something is wrong and it probably needs to see the vet. Baths can be dangerous for rabbits, so if you have to give your rabbit a bath you should follow certain safety precautions. Ideally, use either the "dry bath" or "spot bath" method, not a full bath. ∙ 13y agoIt depends on the ingredients. A lot of essential oils that are ok for dogs in the shampoos are actually toxic for cats, so you need to ask your vet, or make sure you get a cat specific shampoo instead.

∙ 12y agoyes, you can but it is not recommended because the shampoo will easily dry out your cats fur. If you don't have any cat shampoo you can use human conditioner so it doesn't dry the fur out.
