Airport security has become a serious concern for travelers all over the world. The procedures that you have to go through when you enter the gate area of an airport are far more extreme than they were just ten years ago. There are a few things you can do to prepare for the airport security check and get through it a little more smoothly. Wear the Right Shoes All airports require that you remove your shoes and pass them through the x-ray conveyor belt before you enter the airport gate area. The line of people waiting to go through the security check is usually quite long and filled with anxious or impatient people. The best thing you can do to prepare for this stressful situation is to wear loose fitting shoes that are easy to slip on and off. Shoes without laces are ideal for going through security at the airport. Avoid Jackets and Hats Security will also ask you to remove any jackets or hats you are wearing. Be ready by the time you reach the front of the line by taking off your jacket and removing everything from the pockets. Remember that you need to take your hat off before you step through the metal detector. It can be embarrassing to be reminded by the metal detector security agent. If possible, avoid wearing a jacket or a hat through security at all. You can pack them in your carry on bags and then put them on when you are through with the security process. Don’t Carry Liquids Airport security is particularly sensitive about liquid items. The best plan is to expect to buy everything liquid once you arrive at your destination. Don’t carry loose bottles of contact lens solution, deodorant, perfume, or even lip gloss unless you want to be pulled aside by security. If you must carry a liquid item, make sure that it is less than 3 ounces and packed in a ziplock bag. Anything that is not packed appropriately will be confiscated by security and it will not be returned to you. It is possible to pack small liquid containers in your checked baggage, but make sure they are packed carefully so that they don’t spill.

You can wear some modern pads with a traditional sanitary belt although you would have to experiment. Sanitary belts can still be bought on the Internet. They take some getting used to and are a bit old fashioned, but they do the job.
