In the UK it's perfectly acceptable.

At my high school, it was a tradition (though certainly not mandatory) that seniors wear white.
You should wear some nice high heeled white shoes
Girls wear a Corsage on there hands at prom.
jess chose to wear the pink dress 2 the prom
Prom requires fancier dress because it is a formal wear event.
You can wear a white dress with blood stains like the prom scene from Jennifer's body. Or trandformers outfit, with the white jeans, boots and a pink top.
"Themes" generally have more to do with decorations and people can wear whatever they like. I've never heard of a prom with a theme of specific colors where everyone was required to wear those colors, but I suppose it MIGHT happen. My daughter attends a yearly Black and White Ball (not a prom) where everyone does wear black and/or white, but that's a young adult event, not a high school one.If you want to be absolutely sure, check with a teacher (at most schools, the prom is put on by the Junior class, so one of the teachers sponsoring the Junior class would be a good person to ask).
It would not go with there out fit and would not go.
Yes the ps189 is in the fashion for prom this year. It really just depends on the person and what they like to wear and how it feels on them weather they wear it to prom.
A prom is typically a formal affair. Unless your prom has a specific theme that would be right for wearing play clothes, no, you shouldn't wear a play suit.
