Yes, you can..
CD-R or CD-RW , BUT CD-R is better
CD+r means write once, read many. This means that you can only write data to the CD once, after that it will be on there forever and you can always get to it.
A CD-R is recordable (one time) while a CD-RW is rewritable (multiple times). A CD-R is purchased as a blank CD that can be written on either by copying from an existing CD or creating an image of a CD and writing it to the CD-R. In some cases it is possible to write to a portion of the CD-R and later write to an unwritten part of the CD-R (multi-session). No part of the CD-R can be written to more than once. Another term is WORM, Write Once, Read Many. A CD-RW can be treated like a CD-R. However, it can also be erased and be written to again many times.
CD-R is Compact Disk - Read CD-RW is Compact Disk - Read, Write

A CD Drive reads CDs.A CD-R drive writes to CD-R discs. Rewrite not possible.A CD-RW drive writes to CD-RW discs. Rewrite capable.CD drive can only read a CD and not write to it, the drive is called a CD-ROM drive. CD-R is a recordable drive, it will burn to CD-R discs, which can only be burned to one time.CD-RW drives support CD-R and CD-RW, which is the ability to burn to CD-RW discs, which can be burned to, and erased, hundreds of times.
It depends on the CD's format, how it was burned, and whether the session is still open or not. If it is a CD-RW(Read/Write) you can erase these and re-write data on them. If you are trying to erase a store bought CD or a CD-R or CD+R you are out of luck, once these are burned they are done.
The DVD drive in a MacBook Pro can burn Audio CD, Data CD, and DVD disks. It will not burn Blu-Ray disks. Types of writes: CD-Write: -R, -RW DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
If you did not "close" the CD-R disc during the initial write, then the CD writing software you used to initially write it should allow you to add more data to the disc.
A CD-RW drive is able to Read CDs, VCDs, and write CD-R and CD-RW.
CD-R means you can only write/record files to a CD/DVD one time. CD-RW means you can write/record files to a CD/DVD and then re-write new files or delete old files from the said CD-RW. CD-RW hold less than CD-R's and they tend to get buggy the more times you add/edit/delete/re-write over them. Also if you are lets say burning music to a CD to play in your car or something some CD-RW's are not really compatible with standard car stereos.
