My dog just did this. I'd suggest giving him/her a lot of bread or canned pumpkin to cushion the bone so it does not cause internal bleeding. Keep a watch on your dog for a few days and make sure his/her stool isn't bloody.
Call your Vet. Turkey bones can kill dogs. The bones splinter and can kill your dog.
if your dog eats turkey bones feel his stomach if he whimpers or you feel anything unusual take him to the vet imidiatly
Pray. In the future, make sure you keep a close eye when you are outdoors together. Also, teach the release command, and use it quickly and loudly if your dog grabs anything he shouldn't.
Like all poultry bones, turkey bones are likely to splinter, causing your dog to choke or have another injury. The best thing is not to give them bones.
You should take them the vet to get a check up because they may get sick from this type of bone
it might get in its throat and then it would die
Just keep an eye on the dog and make sure none of the bones are stuck in the dog's throat or mouth. If that is the case the dog needs to be taken to the vet as it can obstruct the dog's breathing.
It is risky to feed your dog bird bones of any sort but turkey neck bones are not as likely to splinter and puncture the dog's digestive tract as are the long bones. If you are worried that the dog will get sick from eating raw meat, you can quit worrying. Their stomachs are much more capable than ours for dealing with raw meat and the bacteria that lives on it.
The proper grammar would be that he ate the bones. 'Did the dog eat the bones' because it is singular.
Turkey bones (whether they have meat on them or not) are dangerous, and should never be given to dogs. Any sharp point on a bone can scrape and cut your dog's gastrointestinal tract from the esophagus down to the rectum, causing damage on its way in or out. A sharp bone can even cause a perforation in your dog's tract. Bones may also get stuck in part of the tract and cause a blockage that does not allow food to pass. Turkey bones and chicken bones are well known to easily splinter and end up with very sharp shards.
if a dog eats mice poison you should see a vet about it
yes Yes, but make sure it is not hot, and free of bones. Turkey bones can splinter, and tear up a dogs throat, stomach, and digestive system. It would be best to stay with feeding a dog no "people Food" altogether, but should have no problem with special treat from time to time.
If your dog eats a foreign object or has an intestinal blockage, you should take it to the vet.
cooked poultry bones splinter as your dog eats them
well first off,WHY are you giving your dog porkchop bones?????kinda stupid.......anyways if your dog eats any kind of bone like chicken or turkey(thanksgiving is in 2 days)then you should take them to the vet to have it removed because first off they could choke on it,second, they cant digest it and third, the bone could splinter and cut the inside of their throat or stomache and it could make them internally bleed.so the short and sweet answer would be:GET THAT DOG TO THE VET ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!
I would suggest that food items such as chocolate, onion, grapes and any dreid grape derivatives (e.g. raisins, currants etc) should be avoided for all dog breeds as a large quantity of these would poison the dog eventually.Bones such as chicken and turkey should be avoided altogether although raw chicken wings are alright to be fed provided you keep an eye on the dog while it eats them. Cooked bones of beef or lamb should not be given as they could splinter and get lodged in the throat and cut the dog's mouth.
I don't know for sure. But when I was young my Dad said NEVER feed chicken bones to a Chichihuahua. These bones splinter easily and can damage his throat. That may be also true for TURKEY bones. If you plan to feed your left-over Turkey to a small dog---or any dog---you better wait for an Expert to advise you on that.
