Can zymox otic enzymatic solution be used in human ears for infection?

Yes, Zymox Otic can be used in humans, young and old. It would be off label use as it is labeled for animal use only but because it is safe and recommended for all species this would include humans too.

The long and short answer is YES. It will not do harm......but it may or may not kill the infection. And that really depends on what is the CAUSE of the infection. I've had several ear infections...so I am aware of what they feel like coming on. I started getting " that feeling", and I didn't have any ear drops of my own.....so I grabbed my dogs new unopened bottle of Zymox. ( I always keep spare bottles. ) Obviously in desparation. To make a long story short....in a couple of days..NO PAIN. In the meantime, I had made a doctor's appointment. In after his exam, he told me my ear looked good. I told him that I had used my dogs Zymox. He said, " Well, it worked." He did not prescribe anything and in fact told me to use the Zymox for 2 or 3 more days and my infection should probably be gone. I put 2 drops in my ear 4 times a day. When my elderly mom moved in, I used it on her. She had a big wax buildup in her right ear. I used warm olive oil drops and a cotton ball in her ear for a couple of days to soften it up. After I was able to get most of it out, I used the Zymox in her ear. It slowly dissolved the rest of what was in her ear. She suffered no pain and didn't get an ear infection. You can purchase on Amazon for around $25.00. Way cheaper than paying for an office visit and a prescription. BUT, IF YOUR EAR STILL GIVES YOU PAIN...SEE YOUR DOCTOR as this may NOT KILL WHATEVER IS CAUSING YOUR EARACHE.

Yes, because it works immediately and it has no dangerous antibiotics that destroy gut flora. I got immediate relief from slightly but annoying itchy ear.
