This is likely a stuck thermostat.
busted radiator? No water filling the cooling system
When a car is hot, keep the car running and add water to the radiator. When a car is cold, you can simply put the water into the radiator.
first turn on the car and add the water to the radiator while the engine is running-- this allows the water pump to work and force the water to all the thirsty parts this will help the radiator and the crankcase fill much faster
yes you can?
Thermostat and radiator
The action of running water is actually quite similar to the action of any running liquid. It moves from one location down to another location.
Remove the bottom radiator hose from your 1995 Chevy Lumina radiator. Put a water hose in the top of the radiator. Allow the water hose to run. Keep the water running until clear water runs out of the bottom of the radiator.
carries water from and to the engine to the radiator for cooling, there are 2 and contain hot water when the engine is running and will still be hot and pressurerised for an hour after the motor is shut off.
maybe your radiator is broken and you need to get a new one or just get a reparation if the radiator starts leaking when is in use it may be leaking because of the pressure of the water.
A hole in the radiator would do that, or a damaged radiator cap. It could be a cracked engine block that is allowing cylinder pressure into the cooling system, pressurizing the water until it breaks through a weak spot in the radiator.
Most likely the thermostat spring is weak, or the thermostat is sticking, causing the thermostat to open too early and stay open too long. This will cause water to circulate to the radiator, causing the temperature of the cooling water to fall below the target temperature, and so the temp guage falls. then eventually the thermostat closes some, and the temp starts to rise again (and so on)
all you have to do is run water hoes in the hood of your car and start it why the water is running in to it =)
