∙ 11y agoCells need to have a large surface area to volume in order to be able to sustain function. A smaller cell has a greater surface area to volume which insures that all parts of the cell are quickly reached through osmosis or active transport.
The larger the cell the more issues there are with adequate support to the interior
organelles.
