The first thing I would do is completely flush out the cooling system and check that the water pump is working efficiently
Anytime the engine overheats you have the possibility of blowing the head gasket.

try a radiator cap......or you have a head gasket leak.
I would be thinking it is a head gasket.

The short answer is no! Although from memory, you will have to support the engine on the timing belt side (front of the engine) as the engine mounting on that side needs to be removed.
Normally it will last the life of the engine. However if the engine overheats the gasket can be ruined immediately.
more than likely you need a new radiator for it, when you install it back flush the engine.
